Introduction

The word "quality" is thrown around like someone trying to tell you they had a "good time". Everyone knows it is something that they should want but few have found the criteria, let alone the words, to define it---or more challenging, how to create and manage it.

In my presentation, we will unpack the behaviors and habits that can and will make this all happen in you state's charter schools. I will outline a TQM approach adapted specifically for charter schools including the important roles of various people to make quality happen--from the state board to the school board to the teachers in the classroom.

Take the next 45 minutes to an hour to view these videos and descriptions about organizations that have created quality. These examples span corporations, public schools, and public charter schools---a taste about what a successful organization looks like and feels like.

I think you will start picking up a strong theme about what these organizations focus on to create that high performance and quality---but you do not have to figure all of it out right now. Instead, be inspired and set your expectations higher about what is possible in your state.
