Here are some things to ponder.
1. We talk about high expectations for students, but what should our expectations be of charter schools?
2. Mandating a higher bar by itself does not create higher performance---it is as ridiculous as mandating that all hotels should produce the results of Ritz Carlton and hoping for the best. What could be the first thing a charter school can do to get started?
3. What roles should the various legislative, regulatory, and support bodies perform in helping schools? (e.g. You would not want the IRS being your financial advisor, but they can sure make things easier by laying out clear rules)
